Notes for
Hearing the Voice of God-3
The Signature of God
Hebrews 5:14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God
Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day,
I Corinthians 2:9-10,14 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit… But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil… for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
I Corinthians 14:7 Even things without life, whether flute or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played?
The first signature of God’s voice is it often creates heart burn!
Luke 24:30-32 Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.
Jeremiah 23:25-29 “I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name through Baal worship. Let the prophet who has a dream recount the dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?” declares the Lord. “Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?
The Second signature of God’s voice is that God will repeat what He says.
Deuteronomy 19:15 A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Psalm 62:11 Once God has spoken; twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God;
Genesis 41:32 Now as for the repeating of the dream to Pharaoh twice, it means that the matter is determined by God, and God will quickly bring it about.
Job 33:14-18 For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed; Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keeps back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
The third signature of God’s voice is that God’s word has weight.
Zechariah 9:1 The burden of the word of the Lord is against…
Zechariah 12:1 The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
I Corinthians 14:29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.
You can’t just rebuke a demonic thought and replace it with your thought because our thoughts don’t have the same weight as God’s thoughts or demonic thoughts.
Luke 4:3-4 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
vv. 5-7 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’
Exodus 20:16 You must not lie.
Proverbs 12:22 The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.
Colossians 3:9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
1 Corinthians 6:18–20 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
2 Timothy 2:22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.
The fourth signature of God’s voice is that God’s voice is majestic and authoritative.
Psalm 29:4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The fifth signature of God’s voice is that God’s voice always agrees with the Bible.
Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
God’s word helps transform our mind from the mentality that we grew up with to the mentality that Jesus has.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
John 5:39-40You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
Without God’s voice in my life, I will often make crucial decisions wrong.
I Samuel 30:8 David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” “Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”
Without God’s voice in my life, I will miss out on God’s divine appointments in my life
Without God’s voice in my life, I will miss the divine warnings and not avoid evil and danger in my life.
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.
Our spirit hears His voice and our mind tests and processes what we hear, constantly checking every word received to the written word.
