Can I Handle the Truth? | The Search for Truth | 01

We are beginning to look for the truth about the greatest questions that people ask about God and life today. In today'w message, we look at the idea, "Can I Handle TheTruth?" and we look at two of the message Jesus gave to large crowds about God and His kingdom. This message will shock you!

Can I Handle the Truth? | The Search for Truth 01

“How do I know that God knows I’m alive?”

How do I know there is a God? Show me proof!

Doesn’t Science Refute The Bible?

How Can a Loving God Allow Such Evil/Send People to Hell?

How do I know the Bible is God’s word to humanity as opposed to the Koran or other holy books?

When the crowds came, Jesus didn’t make His messages simpler or easier to understand; He made them more confusing.

Luke 8:4-8 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

Luke 8:9-10 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, “‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’

Why did Jesus speak in parables?

Jesus spoke in parables so that the people seeing Him, didn’t really see Him, and the people that were listening wouldn’t understand Him.

Here is what He told His disciples; I speak to them in parables SO THAT the ones that really want to know, would come after Me.

The seed is God’s word.

A farmer is not going to water the weeds; he’s not going to water the rocks; he’s not going to water the sidewalk. He’s going to water the good soil. The rest is a waste of time.

Do you really want to know the truth?

Most people’s belief systems are based upon desire, not truth.

John 8:32 you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Jesus said you will know the truth and that the truth will actually set you free.

Luke 14: 25-27 Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure.

God is offering to all of us what is called the Great Exchange.

No alcohol, no pleasure, no amount of money touches us like God’s life inside us does.

Do you want to receive His treasure in your life today?

2 Corinthians 5:17 if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

John 1:12 as many as received Jesus, God gave them the right to be a child of God.
