Matthew 10:1, 7-8 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out
impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness… As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The
kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have
leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
The message of the kingdom is always accompanied by signs and wonders.
Mark 16:17-18 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive
out demons; they will speak in new tongues… they will place their hands on sick people, and they
will get well.”
John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Romans 15:19 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished
through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— by the power
of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way
around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and
confirmed the word by the signs that followed.
I Corinthians 2:4-5 my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but
in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of
mankind, but on the power of God.
Acts 1:1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach
Acts 8:6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and
seeing the miracles which he did.
I Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.
Miracles are part of God’s mandate for the church.
Matthew 12:9-14, 22-23, 38-39 Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a
man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they
asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not
take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is
lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely
restored, just as sound as the other. But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill
Jesus… Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus
healed him, so that he could both talk and see. All the people were astonished and said, “Could
this be the Son of David?”
… Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a
sign from you.” He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign!
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…
You can’t seek the kingdom of God without seeking that the impossible bow its knees to the
name of Jesus and demonstrating miracles.
Exodus 34:10 Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I
will perform miracles which have not been produced in all the earth nor among any of the
nations; and all the people among whom you live will see the working of the Lord, for it is a
fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.
Miracles simply demonstrate the heart of the Father for our world.
Mark 1:40-41 And a man with leprosy came to Jesus, imploring Him and kneeling down, and
saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Moved with compassion, Jesus
reached out with His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
Matthew 12:28 if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has
come upon you.
I Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these
is love.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God
When Jesus said to seek first the kingdom, He was revealing how His will was to become
manifest in the earth.
Matthew 6:9-10 “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will
be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Mark 9:28-29 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t
we drive it out?” He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting.”
Romans 12:3 as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.
To see the measure of breakthrough that Jesus demonstrated, you have to pay a price to
increase what you got for free.
Matthew 12:38-39 Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher,
we want to see a sign from you.” He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a
sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
Jesus never demonstrated power for attention; He always demonstrated power to restore
humanity.
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he
went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God
was with him.
Acts 3:6-8 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and
instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk.
Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
We owe people an encounter with God; we owe our generation a demonstration of God’s
kingdom that destroys the bondage and torment, the affliction, the things that keep people
from their breakthrough.
Ezekiel 34:4 Those who are sickly you have not strengthened, the diseased you have not healed,
the broken you have not bound up, the scattered you have not brought back, nor have you
searched for the lost;
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for
Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us,
let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with
endurance the race that is set before us
There are two things that stop our natural hunger for the impossible:
1. Bad Teaching.
“they saw the power to deliver and heal in the name of Jesus. It was miracles that brought the
Roman Empire to Christianity from 100 AD to 400 AD.”
2. Our own Unbelief.
The people around us need to see the love of God by our love and kindness, but they also
need their depression broken off, their cancer healed, their lives transformed by the power
of God.
Matthew 13:58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Mark 16:14 Later Jesus appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their
unbelief and hardness of heart,
