Notes for
Receiving Your Promise in 2024-1
Ignorance Is Killing Me
I John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
John 3:30 He must become greater; I must become less.”
Too many times we have dreams about our life and our family, yet these dreams and desires never happen, they are just future hopes.
Luke 13:10-16 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”
The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”
This woman had legal standing to be healed.
Exodus 15:26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”
Galatians 3:29 And if you belong to Christ, you are true descendants of Abraham, you are true heirs of his promise.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness
Psalm 103:2-3 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
I Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
Healing is part of the covenant that God made with humanity through the blood of Jesus.
John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
I John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
You have a covenant with God made up of thousands of promises.
Joshua 21:45 Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.
2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.
The problem with this woman and the people of Jesus’ day is that they were ignorant of their covenant with God that touched every area of their life.
You have to be the one to enforce your legal rights.
Acts 22:22-25 The crowd listened to Paul until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted, “Rid the earth of him! He’s not fit to live!”
As they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the commander ordered that Paul be taken into the barracks. He directed that he be flogged and interrogated in order to find out why the people were shouting at him like this. As they stretched him out to flog him, Paul said
Paul said to the centurion standing there, “Is it legal for you to flog a Roman citizen who hasn’t even been found guilty?”
When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and reported it. “What are you going to do?” he asked. “This man is a Roman citizen.”
The commander went to Paul and asked, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”
“Yes, I am,” he answered.
Then the commander said, “I had to pay a lot of money for my citizenship.”
“But I was born a citizen,” Paul replied.
Those who were about to interrogate him withdrew immediately. The commander himself was alarmed when he realized that he had put Paul, a Roman citizen, in chains.
The great tragedy is that most Christians don’t know what their legal rights are in the kingdom of God.
Matthew 11:12 the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force.
I Peter 5:8 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
If God tells you that something is yours, then you have the right to have it now.
2 Corinthians 9:8,10 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work… You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
Matthew 6:31-33 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
God says that in the new covenant, you have the keys of the kingdom and you have the authority to bind and loose God’s kingdom into your life, into your finances and into your health.
Mark 11:23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
Luke 8:10 “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you,
Luke 12:32 your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.
