Notes for
Changing Our World-2
What Would Jesus Do?
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
The first thing Jesus would do would be to look at everyone you know from heaven’s standpoint.
2 Corinthians 5:15-16 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Agape love is a cold type of love that actually flows out of a decision and determination of your will.
Romans 5:5 God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love
The second thing Jesus would do if he were in your shoes is pray for your neighbors, family, friends and co-workers.
John 17:9, 20-21 I pray for them (His disciples)… “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.
Jesus always prayed consistently, specifically, and fervently.
James 5:16 The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
I Samuel 12:23 As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you.
The third thing Jesus would do to win the lost is to have a specific target.
Pray for them once a day and try to spend time with them once a week.
Prayer # 1: that the Holy Spirit starts to work on their heart, softening it and convicting them of their sin.
John 16:8-9 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me;
Prayer #2: that our Heavenly Father would draw them to Him.
John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him”
Prayer #3: pray that the spiritual blindness would be lifted from their eyes.
2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Prayer # 4: pray for their needs and problems in their life that you know about.
Prayer # 5: be open as you pray for them that the Holy Spirit might share with you something to pray for them.
If Jesus lived in your house, he wouldn’t just share his faith; he’d show his faith.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
We need to recognize that God will give us special missions when we are open to them.
