02 | Leaving Egypt | Building Goshen

Notes For

Building Goshen-2

Leaving Egypt-Rethinking Wealth

2 Peter 2:9 ICB And so the Lord knows how to save those who serve him. He will save them when troubles come. And the Lord will hold evil people and punish them

Genesis 47:27 Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and were fruitful and increased greatly in number.

Every time God warns, He also gives us a plan.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God’s plan is for His children to enter their own Goshen, a place of provision and wealth for the coming time.

The first thing we must do to enter our Goshen is to leave Egypt-which represents our old way of thinking.

We are very comfortable with our current patterns of thinking, but this is the very thing that God is telling us to change.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The hard part for God is not getting us out of Egypt; the hardest part for God is getting Egypt out of us.

Numbers 11:4-6 again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

Numbers 13:27-28, 31-33 They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large…“We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size…. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Proverbs 28:20 A faithful person will be richly blessed

Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.

Proverbs 8:17-18, 21 I, wisdom, love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity… bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

Genesis 12:2; 13:2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing… Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

God has bestowed on us the same blessing that He gave to Abraham.

Galatians 3:14, 29 Christ redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus… If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

There is one thing that terrifies Satan: a person who fears God and is rich.

I Timothy 6:9-10 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

God tells people when their only goal in life is getting rich that it will make them fall into many temptations and traps. It is a heart issue.

Matthew 6:32-33 the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

God is telling us that the priority of our lives has to be seeking God and His kingdom and when those are our priorities, God can trust us with His blessing.

Luke 16:10-11 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

Jeremiah 22:21 "I spoke to you in your prosperity; But you said, 'I will not listen!'

God is looking for a people who can handle wealth and not turn away from God when they don’t need Him any longer.

Deuteronomy 8:11-14 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Matthew 25: 29‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

Jeremiah 22:21 “I spoke to you in your prosperity; But you said, ‘I will not listen!’

Genesis 22:15-18 The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

One: God wants to bless you because money is important on the earth.

Two:  God wants to bless you because how we handle money is the test that God uses to see if he can trust us with true riches.

Luke 16:11-12 If you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?

Three: God wants to bless you because without money it is impossible to reach the whole world for Jesus.

Romans 10:13-15 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? How can they be sent without money?

Four: God wants to bless you because He has commanded us to provide for our families and help others. Money in your hand is a threat to Satan.

I Timothy 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Matthew 5:42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Ephesians 4:28 work, doing something useful with your own hands, that you may have something to share with those in need.

Five: God wants to bless you because God’s nature is that of a rewarder.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
