1 Peter 4:10 Each of us should use whatever gift he’s received to serve others
3. The bible word for serving others is ministry
Ephesians 4:11-12 ESV And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
Matthew 20:28 Jesus said, Your attitude must be like My own, for I did not come to be served, but to serve.”
Matthew 16:25 For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it.
4. Serving like Jesus means being available
Matthew 20:30-32 Two blind men shouted Lord, have mercy on us! Jesus stopped and called them. What do you want me to do for you?
Proverbs 3:28 never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now
5. Barrier #1: Self-Centeredness
Philippians 2:4 Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand.
6. Barrier #2: Perfectionism
Ecclesiastes 11:4 If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done.
7. Barrier #3: Materialism
Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and money.
8. Serving like Jesus means being grateful
John 11: 41-42 Jesus looked up and said, father, I thank You that You heard me. I know that You always hear Me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here.
Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness
2 Timothy 1:9 It is He who saved us and chose us for His holy work, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan.

2 Timothy 4:7 The one thing required of servants is that they be faithful
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day;
Matthew 25:21 Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!
1 Corinthians 15:58 Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.
10. There is a difference between significance and prominence
Matthew 25:19-30 After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. Master, he said, you have entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more. His master replied, well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masters happiness. The man with the two bags of gold also came. Master, he said, you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more. His master replied, well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness! Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. Master, he said, I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you. His master replied, you wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Hebrews 6:10 He will not forget how hard you’ve worked for Him and how you’ve shown your love to Him, How? By caring for other Christians.
Matthew 25:21 Well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things so; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.
