Notes for
Receiving Your Promise in 2024-3
The Why of Covenants
I John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
The problem with thinking that God is in control of everything is that it ignores what God has stated in the Bible and without realizing it it ascribes blame to God for everything that happens on this planet.
The truth about God is that God is Sovereign until He speaks because God has chosen to limit Himself to what He has said.
Numbers 23:19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
A better way to understand the Sovereignty of God is that God is in charge-it’s His universe, it’s His earth- but He has chosen to not be in control of everything.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule…
Psalm 115:16 The heavens are the heavens of the Lord, But the earth He has given to the sons of men.
The truth is if evil takes place on this planet, it’s not because God allowed it, but because we allowed it.
The Bible shows us that God intended for us to rule on this planet but to rule in partnership with Him.
Genesis 2:19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.
God wanted a family that would love Him of their own free will and accord and co-labor with Him for everything we do on this planet.
Exodus 8:5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”
Exodus 14:13-16 But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.”
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward. As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall go through the midst of the sea on dry land.
I Kings 18:36, 38-39 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command… Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.
When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”
God won’t do something in your life without you being part of it.
For our partnership to work, we must be in full agreement with God and with what God has said.
Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
Faith is simply agreeing and partnering with God by being fully persuaded that what He says will happen.
Romans 4:20-21 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
If God were to touch you today without your partnering and agreement, Satan would accuse God of breaking His word.
Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.
Don’t forget that our treason with Satan in the garden not only ruined us, but it also gave Satan certain rights over humanity.
Luke 4:5-6 “The devil led Jesus up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.’”
EVERY TIME something happened in the Bible, either God got someone to agree with Him or Satan got someone to agree with him.
I Chronicles 21:1 Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Matthew 9:22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.
Matthew 9:29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"
Mark 5:34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."
Mark 10:5 "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Luke 7:50 Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Luke 8:48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
Luke 17:19 Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."
Luke 18:42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."
Mark 9:23 All things are possible to him who believes.
Mark 9:16, 22-23 “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech… But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
John 11:40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
