Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its
fruit.
Genesis 6:5-6 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the
earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply
troubled.
Isaiah 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;
Romans 3:10-18 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who
understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become
worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” “Their throats are open graves; their
tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” “Their mouths are full of
cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways,
and the way of peace they do not know.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Rule #1: No elbowing.
Rule #2: No whispering in the other’s ear saying-“That’s you” or “He’s talking about you!”
Rule #3: No fighting on the way home.
Rule #4: Don’t use whatever I say to tell the other person about their sin.
Rule #5: Use this message to say, “Dear, I think this area is my weakness; what do you think?”
I Peter 2:18-2:7
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and
gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable. For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience
toward God a man bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. For what credit is there if,
when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is
right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. For you have been called
for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in
His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH;
and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but
kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His
body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were
healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd
and Guardian of your souls. In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so
that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the
behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. And let not your
adornment be merely external-- braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on
dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and
quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy
women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own
husbands. Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if
you do what is right without being frightened by any fear. Husbands, in the same way be
considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and
as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
God tells both husbands and wives that when we are mistreated in marriage, the solution is
to do the same thing that Jesus did. Leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return;
while suffering, He uttered no threats
Redeem means to do something right to redeem someone who is doing you wrong in order
to win their heart and heal the relationship.
Only an opposite spirit can defeat wrong.
Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
No marriage can survive without a redemptive spirit and every great marriage has a
redeemer in it!
Peter talks first to women because women are more naturally relational and usually the
ones that first see what is wrong or missing in their relationships.
There is no relationship that won’t cause hurt and pain.
Every time you have pain in your relationship, you react in one of these five ways:
1) Perfect Way: Righteously respond to our spouse in a godly and timely manner.
2 ) Receive the hurt and frustration and hide your true feelings.
3) Reject your spouse when they hurt you or frustrate you.
Revenge-I’m going to get back worse and create a spirit of dominance in this relationship.
To redeem our spouse through righteous, proactive behavior.
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an
example for you to follow in His steps,
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and
running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to
you.”
Matthew 7:1-2 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge
others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Redemption is the only way to respond to your spouse that creates a solution.
Rule # 1: You can't sin even when you are sinned against.
I Peter 2:22 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you,
leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, WHO COMMITTED NO SIN.
Rule #2: You can't use your mouth to seek revenge, or to try to produce results in a wrong
way; except for righteous speech you must remain quiet.
while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats… In the
same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are
disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,
Rule #3: You have to trust God for the results.
He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
