Why don’t we Fulfill God’s Purpose in our Life?
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Luke 12:16-21 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
Genesis 12:2-3 I will bless you… and you will be a blessing.
Daniel 6:3 “Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and provincial governors, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.”
Philippians 2:15-16 become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Psalm 14:2 The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.
2 Corinthians 5:9 So we make it our goal to please him
One reason we don’t fulfill God’s purpose in our life is that we satisfied living a life well below what the Lord died to give us.
Matthew 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
A second reason we don’t fulfill God’s purpose in our life is because we must be forceful and intentional in life concerning God’s purpose.
Complacency is to be pleased with oneself often without awareness of the danger around us.
Apathy is the absence of passion, emotion, or excitement.
Genesis 12:2 I will bless you… and you shall be a blessing
A third reason we don’t fulfill God’s purpose in our life is that we forget how much God has done for us and wants to do in us, and that limits God in our life.
Psalms 78:40-42 How often did they provoke Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert! Yes, they turned back and tested God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They did not remember his power— the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,
A fourth reason we don’t fulfill God’s purpose is because we ourselves choose the level we will live at in life.
2 Peter 1:3-4 for His divine power has granted to us everything we need for life and godliness… He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may participate in the divine nature
Mark 6:47-50 When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified.
I Kings 10:27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.
Deuteronomy 8:18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
Isaiah 37:21-22, 34-36 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word the Lord has spoken against him… he will not enter this city,” declares the Lord. “I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!” Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!
A fifth reason we don’t fulfill God’s purpose in our life is because we are already very comfortable and happy with where we are.
God’s goal for our life is not to get more FOR us but to get more TO us so that we can be a blessing to a dying, crying, empty world around us.
John 15:7-8 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
Your need is whatever it takes to establish God’s will in your life.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
God’s blessing over you is in all things.
Romans 8:31-32 If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things.
I Timothy 6:17-18 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
Realize that you are valuable.
I Peter 1:18-19 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
Believe that you can do what God puts in your heart to do.
Philippians 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Act as if you are on your way to your next level.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Remove the roadblocks of pessimism, excuses and the victim mentality.
Proverbs 22:13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside!" or, "I will be murdered in the streets!"
Build new relationships.
Proverbs 13:20 He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.
