Notes for
Father’s Day 2025
Each person here has been created with both needs in the present and a destiny in the
future.
God has created men and women so differently that we can get to the place that we despise
the others’ needs.
Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper
suitable for him.”
Notice the four greatest needs a woman has:
1. security
2. non-sexual affection.
3. open & honest communication
4. leadership
Men
1. security Honor & respect
2. non-sexual affection sex
3. open & honest communication friendship (fun)
4. leadership domestic support
You are God’s answer to meeting your spouse’s needs.
In 1930, 83% of American adults were married.
Today, only 45% of American adults are married.
Ephesians 5:21-29 submitting to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit to your own
husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the
church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let
the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that
He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present
her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she
should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own
bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes
and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
The roles God command us to live in Ephesians 5 make us attractive to our spouse and
cause them to open their hearts to us.
The number one need of every man is honor and respect.
Submitting to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as
you do to the Lord... Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself
up for her
A godly marriage functions when the woman shows her submission to God by submitting
to her husband as she submits to the Lord and the husband shows his submission to God by
being a sacrificial and serving husband.
I Peter 3:1-6 In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if
any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of
their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. Your adornment must not be
merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be
the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is
precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in
God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; just as Sarah obeyed
Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without
being frightened by any fear.
Respect is so powerful to a man that a man will actually change his behavior for it.
Ephesians 5:21-22, 25 Submitting to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves to
your own husbands as you do to the Lord... Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the
church and gave himself up for her
When we do what God commands us to do with our spouses, it releases the potential in our
spouse.
I Corinthians 11:7 Amplified A man… is the image and [reflected] glory of God; but the
woman is [the expression of] man’s glory.
Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.
Income for single women head of households is only 47% of married couple family income. As a
result, the probability of children living in poverty is five times greater in single women
households.
Fatherless children are 5 times as likely to repeat a grade, and have emotional problems.
93% of all people incarcerated are men, and 85% of them have no father figure.
Children raised without a father are 40 times more likely to be physically abused, 7 times more
likely to end up as a pregnant teenager, and four times more likely to go to prison.
The government estimates that for every child raised without a father, $54,000 are needed to
offset the effects and consequences of not having a father.
Proverbs 14:26 “Reverence for God gives a man deep strength. His children have a place of
refuge and security.”
Psalm 112:1-2 Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly
delights in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth;
He found that 310 died as paupers; 150 became criminals; 7 were murderers; 100 were
drunkards; more than half of the women were prostitutes. Their family cost the US
government 1.2 million in 19th century money.
295 graduated from college; 13 became college presidents; 65 became professors; 3 were
elected as US Senators; 3 State governors; others were sent as missionaries to other
countries. 30 were judges; 100 lawyers; 1 the dean of an outstanding law school; 56
physicians; 1 dean of a medical school; 75 became military officers; 100 preachers,
missionaries, and prominent authors; 80 held some form of public office; 3 were mayors of
large cities; 1 was the comptroller of the US Treasury; 1 was the Vice President of the US.
Not one descendent of Jonathan Edwards was a liability to the US government. Not one of
his descendants divorced in two centuries.
One of the greatest things we can teach our children is the fear of the Lord.
Proverbs 14:26-27 In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
to turn one away from the snares of death.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy
One is understanding.
The fear of the Lord is more caught than taught.
1. Go to church consistently.
2. Read the Bible at home.
3. Pray at home where your kids can see you
4. Tithe regularly and let your children see the blessings that God brings through tithing.
5. What kind of movies do you watch?
6. Do you swear or curse at home?
7. Do you keep your promises?
Proverbs 25:14 “People who promise things that they never give are like clouds in a wind with
no rain.”
Psalm 141:3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Psalm 101:2 “I will try to walk a blameless path but how I need Your help especially in my own
home where I long to act as I should.”
