Matthew 2:1,11 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod,

MALACHI 1:6-8 " A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is
the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the LORD Almighty.
"When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice crippled or
diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalms 46:1)

One root of stress and disappointment is when things don’t happen the way we expect them
to happen.
Another root of stress and disappointment comes when we feel like we have to have things
that we can’t afford; or desire to live a lifestyle that is beyond us.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will
have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Luke 2:13-14 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising
God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor
rests."
Matthew 24:6-7 that… “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not
alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”
II Timothy 3:1-4 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be
lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers
of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--
Matthew 10:34-36 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come
to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter
against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law-- a man's enemies will be the
members of his own household"
I Corinthians 3:1-3 Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants
in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still
not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you
not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?

Isaiah 57:20-21 But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up
mire and mud. "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."
The angels’ message was that from the fall of Adam to that very moment there was no
peace between God and humanity.
Ephesians 2:17-19 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those
who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently,
you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of
God's household,
Romans 5:1 Therefore having been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ,”
The Bible calls the Gospel message, the good news of peace.
Acts 10: 36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of
peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
Ephesians 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
The Bible calls Jesus, the maker of peace.
Ephesians 2:14 For He Himself is our peace...
Colossians 1:20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or
things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 20:19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with
the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
“Peace be with you!”
Today, the message of God to humanity is that Jesus came to restore us to God and to give
us peace.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace
Peace is a fruit of the Spirit of God in our lives.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on
you!

When we suffer in life, we have two choices: we can wallow in our misery or in our pain
open our heart to reach out to the presence of God to experience His peace.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on
you!
When we experience loss or suffer in life answers won't fix the problem or change my loss;
only God’s presence will.
Some of the things that Jesus came to take away from the earth was grief, mourning and
discouragement.
Isaiah 61:1,3 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to
preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,… to comfort all
who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a
spirit of despair.
