Notes for
Build Your Unshakable Dream-1
Cultivating Repentance and Obedience
Every year is better when we start out the year seeking God.
This is a year of shaking.
Haggai 2:6 For this is what the Lord of armies says: ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.
The word “shaking” is a violent disruption of a pattern, flow or cycle. When something or someone is shaken, it is an agitation of the current state or condition. Because the old state or condition is being disrupted, after the shaking the condition of the object or entity being shaken will be different.
A God-ordained shaking season has a purpose and many benefits.
God never shakes what He does not intend to process and grow. The shaking will bring dynamic and accelerated growth in your life.
Hebrews 12:26-28 “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.
The focus of this year is to build our life so that the things that shouldn’t be there are left behind and we become unshakeable.
Key #1: Set specific objectives for building an unshakeable life this year.
Habakkuk 2:1 I will stand at my watch… I will look to see what he will say to me
Ezra 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us
Isaiah 58:6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: a time to take off the chains of sin, and to take the heavy load of sin off the neck? Is it not a time to let those who suffer under a sinful power go free, and to break every load from their neck?
Matthew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Key #2: Decide what type of fasting you are going to do.
Definition of Fasting: Fasting is a time of refined focus where we get rid of the distractions of life so that we can spend more time with God and get answers and breakthrough for our life issues.
1. There is the total fast-just water.
2. Juice fast-deny yourself any solid food.
3. Daniel fast-fruits and vegetables, no sweets or meat.
Daniel 10:3 I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
Matthew 6:17-18 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Key #3: This should be a time where you move your heart, not just your food.
Joel 2:12-13 “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.
Repentance is always the entrance into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
The only way to have an unshakeable life is to let go of all sin so that we can be useful for the Lord’s use.
2 Timothy 2:19-21 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
Psalm 139:23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
I Kings 2:3 observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations
Micah 6:8 And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
To live an unshakeable life we must hear God’s word and put it into practice in our lives.
Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
God wants to teach us how to rise with His power and presence in our lives so that the world around us that has no hope will see our light and be attracted to it.
